A track tensioning assembly (230) for a track laying vehicle. The track tensioning assembly (230) includes an idler plate assembly (234) coupled to a hydraulic actuator (331) at a first end and coupled to a front idler assembly (232) at a second end. The hydraulic actuator (331) is configured to apply a pressure on the front idler assembly (232) with the idler plate assembly (234) to achieve a desired tautness. The track tensioning assembly (230) also includes a removable cross pin (666) positioned to prevent loosening of track while in a first location (662) or configured to allow removal of tracks while in a second location (664).
