The present invention relates to proton conducting copolymers, preferably proton conducting block copolymers, according to formula (I) wherein the copolymer comprises 2,5- and/or 2,6-di(p-Rl-aryl)phenol moieties and 2,5- and/or 2,6-di-R2-phenol moieties; R1 is hydrogen or a C1 - C10alkyl group; R2 is a C1-C10 alkyl group; and R3 is chloro, bromo or a heterocyclic group selected from 1-pyrazolyl, 1-benzopyrazolyl, 1-imidazolyl, 1-benzoimidazolyl, 2,3-triazol-l-yl, 2,4-triazol-l-yl, 1,6-dihydropyridazin-l-yl, 1,2- dihydropyrimidin-l-yl, 1,2-dihydro-l,3-benzodiazin-l-yl, 1,2-dihydropyrazin-l- yl, 1,2-dihydro-l,4-benzodiazin-l-yl, 1,2-dihydro-1,3,5-triazin-l-yl and 3,4- dihydro-1,2,4-triazinyl, provided that within the copolymer at least one R3 is a heterocyclic group; p is in the range of 100 to 100.000; and q is in the range of 100 to 100.000. The proton conducting copolymers are very suitable as membranes for fuel cells.

La présente invention concerne des copolymères conducteurs de protons, de préférence des copolymères séquencés conducteurs de protons, selon la formule (I), dans laquelle le copolymère comprend des fragments 2,5- et/ou 2,6-di(p-Rl-aryl)phénol et des fragments 2,5-et/ou 2,6-di-R2-phénol ; R1 est hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle C1 - C10 ; R2 est un groupe alkyle C1-C10 et R3 est chloro, bromo ou un groupe hétérocyclique sélectionné parmi 1-pyrazolyl, 1-benzopyrazolyl, 1-imidazolyl, 1-benzoimidazolyl, 2,3-triazol-l-yl, 2,4-triazol-l-yl, 1,6-dihydropyridazine-l-yl, 1,2-dihydropyrimidine-l-yl, 1,2-dihydro-l,3-benzodiazine-l-yl, 1,2-dihydropyrazine-l-yl, 1,2-dihydro-l,4-benzodiazine-l-yl, 1,2-dihydro-1,3,5-triazine-l-yl et 3,4-dihydro-1,2,4-triazinyle, à condition que, dans le copolymère, au moins un R3 soit un groupe hétérocyclique, que p soit compris entre 100 et 100 000 et que q soit compris entre 100 et 100 000. Les copolymères conducteurs de protons conviennent très bien comme membranes pour les piles à combustible.
