A process for improving the adhesiveness of a surface of a body fabricated from a polymeric material. The process comprises the step of irradiating said surface with an electron beam with an energy not greater than about 5 keV and at a partial pressure of oxygen in the range of from about 2 x 10-5 to about 2 x 10-3 Pa. Thebody so treated may be used in the manufacture of an article selected from the group comprising films, doors, covers, decks, cases, panels for use in the transportation industry, household electrical appliances, automobiles, telecommunications devices, business machines and packaging.
