A method for identifying closed areas and defining masks in a digital image, comprising the stages of dividing the image into a plurality of points and memorising values representative at least of the relative luminance of each point of the image in an ordered sequence in the memory of an electronic processor; memorising values representative of the luminance gradient of each point of the image, determined on the basis of the luminance values of each point and of the surrounding points in an ordered sequence in the memory of the electronic processor; preparing an intermediate threshold value, in order to sub-divide the luminance gradient values into a first and a second group; memorising in the memory of the electronic processor an ordered series of values identifying borders, each defined by a cluster of adjacent points whose gradient value belongs to the first group of luminance gradient values; selecting closed edges, defined by the borders whose points all have at least two neighbours whose luminance gradient values belong to the first group; memorising in the memory of the electronic processor the points of the image that are included within each edge, taken in succession, to define masking areas of the digital image corresponding to objects depicted in this image.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'identifier des espaces fermés et de définir des masques dans une image numérisée. Le procédé consiste à diviser l'image en plusieurs points et à mémoriser, dans la mémoire d'un processeur électronique, des valeurs représentant au moins la luminance relative de chaque point de l'image dans une suite ordonnée; à mémoriser, dans la mémoire du processeur électronique, les valeurs représentant le gradient de luminance de chaque point, déterminées sur la base des valeurs de luminance de chaque point et des points environnants dans une suite ordonnée; à préparer une valeur de seuil intermédiaire, afin de répartir les valeurs du gradient de luminance en un premier et un second groupes; à mémoriser, dans la mémoire du processeur électronique, une série de valeurs ordonnée identifiant les limites, chacune définie par une grappe de points adjacents dont la valeur du gradient appartient au premier groupe de valeurs du gradient de luminance; à choisir les bords fermés, définis par les limites dont les points ont tous au moins deux voisins dont les valeurs du gradient de luminance appartiennent au premier groupe; à mémoriser, dans la mémoire du processeur électronique, les points de l'image qui sont intégrés à chaque bord, pris successivement, pour définir les zones de masquage de l'image numérisée correspondant aux objets représentés dans ladite image.
