The present invention relates to a method of treating non-melanoma skin cancer comprising: (a) intravenously administering a porphyrin based photosensitizer to a subject with non-melanoma skin cancer; (b) irradiating one or more tumors and a circumferential peritumoral margin of at least 1 mm with a light at a wavelength absorbed by said photosensitzer; wherein the irradiating step delivers a light dose of 180J/cm2. It has been found that the above treatment gives extremely good efficacy while having a surprisingly good cosmetic outcome.
