Compositions and methods for using mammalian CCR6 and MIP-3.alpha. proteins to treat an abnormal physiological condition in an individual. The methods comprise administering a therapeutically effective amount of CCR6 or MIP- 3.alpha. alone, or in combination with other therapeutic reagents; or a CCR6 or MIP-3.alpha. antagonist. Genetically-engineered animals and their use as models of molecular mechanism are also provided.
