The invention relates to a communications system in which communication terminals (KE1,..., KEn) are connected to a packet-oriented communications network (ATM-KN) via at least one transfer unit (ATM-HUB) and a switching system (PBX). To transmit data between the switching system (PBX) and the communication terminals (KE1,..., KEn) a time-slot-oriented data format (IOM- 2) is provided for, which consists of a periodic sequence of channel-specific information segments (B1, B2, M, D). For the transmission of data via said communications network (ATM-KN) a user data area (N) of a data packet (ATMZ) used to transmit data via the communications network (ATM-KN) is divided into at least one first partial packet (TP1) and a second partial packet (TP2). In the first partial packets (TP1) the data of a channel-specific information segment (B1, B2, M, D) are transmitted.

L'invention concerne un système de communication dans lequel les terminaux de communication (KE1,..., KEn) sont reliés à un réseau de communication par paquets (ATM-KN) par au moins une unité de transit (pivot ATM) et un dispositif de commutation (PBX). La transmission de données entre le dispositif de commutation (PBX) et les terminaux (KE1,..., KEn) se fait selon un format de données (IOM-2) basé sur les créneaux temporels et formé d'une séquence de segments d'informations (B1, B2, M, D) spécifiques de canal. Pour la transmission de données par le réseau de communication (ATM-KN), une zone de données utiles (N) d'un paquet de données (ATMZ) servant à la transmission des données par ledit réseau (ATM-KN) est subdivisée en au moins un premier sous-paquet (TP1) et un second sous-paquet (TP2). Les données d'un segment d'informations (B1, B2, M, D) spécifique de canal sont transmises dans les premiers sous-paquets (TP1).
