Medical devices incorporate therein imaging materials having selected MRI detectable nuclei to provide useful magnetic resonance images of the medical devices and proximate body tissue. Also, a method generates MRI images of such a medical device, and involves performing first and second MRI processes on a body portion including at least a portion of the medical device to obtain, respectively, first and second image data. The first MRI process is adapted to detect MRI detectable nuclei present in the proximate body tissue, and the second MRI process is adapted to detect the selected MRI detectable nuclei contained in the device's imaging material. The selected MRI detectable nuclei incorporated in the imaging material is not the same nuclei that the first MRI process is adapted to detect. The second image data are combined with the first image data to produce image data for the medical device and the proximate body tissue.
Des dispositifs médicaux pourvus de matériaux d'imagerie qui renferment un noyau sélectionné détectable par IRM permettent d'obtenir des images utiles par résonance magnétiques représentant les dispositifs médicaux ainsi que les tissus corporels alentours. De plus, l'invention concerne un procédé de production d'images IRM de ce type de dispositifs médicaux, qui consiste à soumettre la partie du corps qui contient au moins une partie du dispositif médical à des premier et second processus IRM pour obtenir des premières et secondes données d'image. Le premier processus IRM est adapté pour détecter le noyau détectable par IRM dans les tissus corporels alentours, le second processus IRM étant adapté pour détecter le noyau sélectionné détectable par IRM contenu dans le matériau d'imagerie du dispositif médical. Le noyau sélectionné détectable par IRM qui est contenu dans le matériau d'imagerie est différent de celui pour lequel le premier processus IRM est adapté à détecter. Les secondes données d'image sont combinées avec les premières données d'image pour obtenir des données d'image qui représentent à la fois le dispositif médical et les tissus corporels alentours.
