Compositions for bone repair have been developed based on linear hydrophobic degradable polymers and monomers or macromers, at least one of which includes an anhydride linkage. The monomers and/or macromers crosslink each other but not to the linear polymer to form semi-interpenetrating networks. The compositions can include various excipients, therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents. The compositions can be polymerized in the presence of dissolvable particles such as inorganic salts and proteinaceous materials to provide a porous polymer network. The compositions can be injected into a patient and polymerized in situ or can be polymerized ex vivo and implanted. When polymerized ex vivo, the composition can be shaped into various articles, such as pins, screws, and hollow tubes, which can be used to repair broken bones.

L'invention traite de compositions permettant de réparer des os et qui ont été formées à base de monomères ou de macromères et de polymères linéaires dégradables hydrophobes, l'une de ces substances, au moins, comportant une liaison anhydride. Les monomères et/ou macromères s'entrecroisent mais ne s'entrecroisent pas avec le polymère linéaire et ce, afin de former des réticulats semi-interpénétrants. Ces compositions peuvent renfermer divers excipients, agents thérapeutiques et/ou diagnostiques. Ces compositions peuvent être polymérisées en présence de particules solubles, telles que des sels inorganiques et des matières protéiniques, aux fins de former un réticulat polymère poreux. Ces compositions peuvent être injectées au patient et polymérisées in situ ou bien elles peuvent être polymérisées ex vivo puis implantées. Lorsqu'elle est polymérisée ex vivo, la composition peut être modelée sous forme de divers objets tels que des broches, des vis et des tubes creux qui peuvent être utilisés pour réparer des os cassés.
