ABSTRACT An apparatus for the automatic optical analysis of colorimetric colouration zones on a carrier used to indicate gas and/or vapour constituents of a gas mixture. An apparatus for the automatic optical analysis of colorimetric colouration zones is intended to be moved into a position to analyze not only a single test tube but rather a series of reaction zones that are applied one behind the other on a common carrier. This is intended to ensure that the smallest quantity of indicator substances for the colouration zone will achieve adequate signal intensity for the smallest possible power consumption for the optical signal analysis, error sensitivity being reduced at the same time. An apparatus of this kind is characterized in that both the sender as well as the receiver unit (19, 20, 22) are installed on a common assembly carrier (18), the light from the sender unit (19, 20) being passed through a light-wave guide (25, 27) through the translucent area of the reagent carrier (1), the colouration of the reaction zones (5) that are applied to the carrier (1) in the form of channels being picked up during transmission or remission.
