The invention relates to a method for determining in vitro the capacity of a cell population to induce bone formation in vivo comprising the steps of: a) providing a sample of a cell population; b) dividing said sample into a first and a second part containing an equal number of cells; c) culturing the first part in the presence of an osteogenic stimulation factor; d) culturing the second part in the absence of an osteogenic stimulation factor; e) determining degrees of expression of a bone-specific protein; and f) comparing the degrees of expression of the bone-specific protein of the first part and the second part thereby providing a measure for the capacity of the bone cell population to induce bone formation in vivo.

L'invention concerne une méthode permettant de déterminer in vitro la capacité d'une population cellulaire à induire une formation osseuse in vivo, laquelle méthode consiste : a) à prélever un échantillon d'une population cellulaire, b) à diviser cet échantillon en une première et une seconde partie contenant un nombre égal de cellules, c) à cultiver la première partie en présence d'un facteur de stimulation ostéogénique, d) à cultiver la seconde partie en l'absence d'un facteur de stimulation ostéogénique, e) à déterminer des degrés d'expression d'une protéine spécifique des os et f) à comparer les degrés d'expression de la protéine spécifique des os de la première partie et de la seconde partie, afin de mesurer la capacité de cette population cellulaire osseuse à induire une formation osseuse in vivo.
