The present invention is directed to a thermostable DNA polymerase from <i>Bacillus stearothermophilus</i> for use in reverse transcription and/or reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), where said DNA polymerase shows magnesium ion dependent reverse transcriptase activity and in the substantial absence of manganese ions.
