L'invention a pour objet une tôle d'acier à moyen carbone calmé à l'aluminium comprenant en poids entre 0,040 et 0,080 % de carbone, entre 0,35 et 0,50 % de manganèse, entre 0,040 et 0,070 % d'aluminium, entre 0,004 et 0,006% d'azote, le reste étant du fer et des impuretés résiduelles inévitables. L'acier comporte du carbone à l'état libre, un nombre de grains par mm2 supérieur à 20000 et, à l'état vieilli, un taux d'allongement A% satisfaisant la relation : (640-Rm)/ 10 <= A% <= (700 - Rm)/ 11 Rm étant la résistance maximale à la rupture.
