ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A suction catheter provided with three conduits to provide the fuctions of suctioning, lavaging and oxygenating. Various combinations of multilumen catheters and tubes within tubes may be employed to supply the three conduits for the suction catheter of the invention. The suction conduit is connected to a suction control member. The second conduit for the irragating fluid and the third conduit for gas are provided through a multilumen catheter. The separating wall between the second and third conduits is broken near the distal end of the catheter so that the gas drives the liquid out of the catheter. The gas may preferably contain oxygen. A respiration intersection piece provides a port for attachment to a ventilator so that the patient may engage in respiration during the suctioning process.
