According to an illustrative example of the invention, a cheese package comprises a carrier tray (10) with a carrier surface (12) and side walls (14). Cubic cheese bodies (22) are loaded on the carrier surface (12) and laterally secured by the side walls (14). The cubic cheese bodies (22) have a height larger than the height of the side walls (14). A bag shaped of film material encapsulates the tray (10) and the cheese bodies (22) and secures the cheese bodies (22) on the carrier surface (12) of the tray (10).
