A muffler assembly has a housing and an internal and replaceable core assembly. The core assembly may contain filter elements to reduce the emissions from the engine and/or sound reducing elements. The core assembly is replaced within the housing when the filter elements become ineffective or when the user desired to otherwise replace the internal core assembly without removing the muffler housing.
