A self heating individual meal package (10) includes a quantity of foodstuff to be heated. The package consists of a thermal insulated outer pouch (20). Within the package is an electrolytic-solvent activated exothermic-chemical pad or powder enclosed in an absorbent envelope (40), a bag containing electrolytic solvent (52) and a pouch for foodstuff (30). The solvent bag (52) is affixed to a rigid means (51) for the functioning of a tear filament pull-tab mechanism (53) or the rupturing of the solvent bag. The pull-tab is affixed to the solvent bag (55) so that when pulled the bag will open and the electrolytic solvent within can flow out to trigger the exothermic reaction.

Emballage autochauffant (10) pour repas individuel comprenant une quantité d'aliments à chauffer. Cet emballage est constitué d'un sachet (20) extérieur thermiquement isolé. A l'intérieur de l'emballage est placée une enveloppe absorbante (40) contenant un tampon ou une poudre chimique à réaction exothermique activé par solvant électrolytique, une pochette contenant un solvant électrolytique (52) et un sachet (30) pour les aliments. La pochette (52) à solvant est fixée sur un dispositif rigide (51) pour assurer le fonctionnement d'un mécanisme (53) de languette de déchirage à fil ou pour déchirer la pochette à solvant. La languette de déchirage est fixée sur la pochette (52) à solvant de manière à ce que lorsqu'on la tire le sachet s'ouvre et que le solvant électrolytique qu'il renferme puisse sortir et s'écouler pour déclencher la réaction exothermique.
