- 1 - ABSTRACT In the preparation of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane (HCFC 133a) by means of hydrofluorination in the gas phase of tri- chloroethylene (TCE) in the presence of a carried catalyst based on Cr2O3 it is possible to prolong the catalyst life by feeding to the hydrofluorination reactor, along with trichloro- ethylene, little amounts (7-25 mols % calculated on the mixt- ure with trichloroethy1ene) of 133a.
