A lithographic printing plate or other coated imageable substrate is imaged by heating an area of the coating with an infrared laser and reacting the coating in the heated area with ultraviolet or visible radiation. The coating can be either positive working or negative working. The modulated radiation may either be the ultraviolet/visible radiation or the infrared radiation and the radiation spots are superimposed or the ultraviolet/visible spot may closely trail the infrared spot. The imaging time is reduced since the reaction rate is increased at the elevated temperature.

On reproduit l'image d'une plaque d'impression lithographique ou d'un autre substrat dont on peut reproduire l'image en chauffant une région du revêtement avec un laser infrarouge et en faisant réagir le revêtement de la région chauffée avec des rayons visibles ou ultraviolets. Ce revêtement peut être soit positif, soit négatif. Le rayonnement modulé peut être soit le rayonnement visible/ultraviolet, soit le rayonnement infrarouge et les zones de rayonnement se superposent ou la zone ultraviolet/visible peut suivre de près la zone infrarouge. La durée d'imagerie est brève car le vitesse de réaction est augmentée à température élevée.
