A traction device (10) for applying traction to a patient's leg while supporting the patient's foot to avoid foot drop and heel or lateral malleolar pressure ulcers. The device includes a body having forefoot and lower leg portions (24, 26), a continuous cavity (34) within the forefoot and lower leg portions, and an anterior opening (36) sized to permit a patient's foot and lower leg to pass therethrough into the cavity. The body supports the patient's lower leg so that the patient's heel is suspended within the cavity. Elements adjustably close the anterior opening and traction straps (14) are removably attached to lateral regions (32) of the body and extend from the forefoot portion. The interior surface of the cavity provides a sufficiently high friction interface with the patient's lower leg to prevent sliding of the body on the lower leg when full traction loads are applied through the traction straps.
Dispositif de traction (10) servant à appliquer une traction à la jambe d~un patient tout en soutenant le pied du patient pour éviter le « pied tombant » et des ulcères malléolaires, latéraux ou au talon, dus aux pressions. Le dispositif comporte un corps possédant des parties pour l~avant-pied et la jambe inférieure (24, 26), une cavité continue (34) dans les parties de l~avant-pied et de la jambe inférieure, et une ouverture antérieure (36) dimensionnée de manière à permettre au pied ou à la jambe inférieure d~un patient de passer au travers jusque dans la cavité. Le corps soutient la jambe inférieure du patient de façon que le talon du patient soit suspendu dans la cavité. Des éléments ferment de manière réglable l~ouverture antérieure et des sangles de traction (14) sont fixées de façon amovible aux zones latérales (32) du corps et s~étendent à partir de la partie d~avant-pied. La surface intérieure de la cavité donne une interface à friction suffisamment élevée avec la jambe inférieure du patient pour empêcher un glissement du corps sur la jambe inférieure quand de pleines charges de traction sont appliquées par l~intermédiaire des sangles de traction.
