ABSTRACT A field-oriented control system for standard cage- type induction machines comprising a rectangular field coordinate unit (basis) vector generator for generating a pair of state vectors in response to received slip- frequency command and measured machine shaft-speed, and a synchronously-rotating to stationary reference-frame coordinate transformer for modulating the direct and quadrature axis stator current command signals by the field coordinate state vectors and in response generating a pair of balanced two-phase instantaneous stator current command signals. The two phase signals are split by means of trigonometric combination into three-phase current demand signals for application to stationary reference-frame current regulators of the induction machine.
