An expandable stent (10) may be made having a tubular body (14) and an expandable side branch section (20). The tubular body (14) has at least one perimeter (16) which defines at least one opening in the wall of the tubular body (14). The expandable side branch section (20) has a plurality of elongate members (22) with a first end engaged to the perimeter (16). Each of the plurality of elongate members (22) has a second end that extends to a pre-determined distance away from the tubular body (14) when in an expanded state. The expandable side branch section (20) is configured to expand outward to allow for the formation of a bifurcated stent with a side branch.

La présente invention concerne un stent (10) pouvant être déployé qui peut comporter un corps tubulaire (14) et une ramification latérale (20) pouvant être déployée. Ledit corps comporte au moins un périmètre (16) qui définit au moins une ouverture dans la paroi du corps tubulaire. Ladite ramification (20) comporte une pluralité d'éléments allongés (22) dont une première extrémité est en contac avec le périmètre (16). Chaque élément (22) de ladite pluralité comporte une seconde extrémité qui s'étend sur une distance prédéterminée à l'écart dudit corps (14) à l'état déployé. Ladite ramification (20) est conçue pour se déployer vers l'extérieur pour permettre la formation d'un stent bifurqué avec une branche latérale.
