ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method to inhibit the formation of algae in a swimming pool, comprising the step of adding oxygen into the water of the pool. When the swimming pool comprises a filtration system, the addition of oxygen can be carried out by introducing air into the filtered water that is returned to the pool. A water oxygenator for swimming pool is also disclosed, which comprises a water outlet nozzle connectable to the outlet of the filtration system and through which water is returned to the pool. The nozzle comprises a main tube through which the filtered water flows, and an auxiliary tube. One end of the auxiliary tube opens into the flow of water within the main tube, while its other end is open to ambiant air. With such an arrangement, water flowing inside the main tube causes air to be sucked in and mixed with the water returned to the pool.
