NOVEL OXIRANES AND THEIR PREPARATION ABSTRACT This invention relates to geminal nitrooxiranes pre- pared by treating vicinal nitroalkyl peroxy nitrates with strongly alkaline reagents. These oxiranes have utility as intermediates in making analogues of acrolein, as curing agents for amino containing polymers and as intermediates for preparing alkanols and their ethoxylates, the latter having surfactant properties. -I-
