A measuring and indicating device (10) for the position of a headbox profile bar relative to a measuring reference (2, 7) has an electrical signal emitter (11) and an indicating device (12). Arranged in a measuring housing (13) are the stationary part (for instance measuring coil 14) of the electrical signal emitter (11) and a measuring element (15) which is movable along a longitudinal axis. The indicating device (12) comprises an indicator housing (17) and a probe element (18) which is movable along a longitudinal axis. The measuring housing (13) of the electrical signal emitter (11) has in the area of its longitudinal axis two connecting fixtures (13', 19) for a rigid, butadjustable connection each, for one, to the indicator housing (17) and, for another, to the measuring reference (2, 7).
