A cabinet for a sewing machine or the like defines a chamber having a front and a back including a back panel. A pull-out platform for the machine is supported in said chamber for motion inwardly and outwardly of the front thereof and defines a generally horizontal working surface. The back panel is flexibly connected to said platform for movement therewith from (A) a generally vertical position wherein said back panel closes the back of said chamber (e.g. during machine storage), said vertical position corresponding to an innermost position of said platform, to (B) a generally horizontal position wherein said back panel is in generally co-planar relation to said platform (to provide a large working surface) and the back of said chamber is open (to allow fabric etc. being worked on to be moved through the open back), said horizontal position corresponding to an outermost position of said platform.
Meuble, pour machine à coudre ou autre appareil semblable, formant une chambre ayant une partie avant et une partie arrière, comprenant un panneau arrière. Une plate-forme escamotable pour la machine à coudre repose dans cette chambre, et coulisse vers l'intérieur ou l'extérieur de la partie avant de la chambre. La plate-forme constitue un plan de travail généralement horizontal. Le panneau arrière est relié de façon articulée à la plate-forme, ce qui lui permet de se déplacer : A) d'une position généralement verticale où il ferme l'arrière de la chambre (p. ex., lorsque la machine est rangée), cette position verticale correspondant à la position complètement rentrée de la plate-forme; à B) une position généralement horizontale où le panneau arrière est généralement situé sur le même plan que la plate-forme (pour former un grand plan de travail). Dans cette position, l'arrière de la chambre est ouvert (pour permettre à du tissu, etc., en train d'être cousu de sortir par l'ouverture arrière du meuble). La position horizontale du panneau arrière correspond à la position complètement sortie de la plate-forme.
