The present invention provides a method of reducing the period within which a plant's natural defence mechanism responds to attack by a plant pathogen, the method comprising causing the plant to maintain in at least a part of the plant a level of BiP, or a homologue thereof, which is greater than the endogenous level for said plant in non-stressful conditions. The invention also provides for a modified plant produced by the method of the invention.
L'invention porte sur un procédé réduisant la période pendant laquelle le mécanisme naturel de défense de plantes répond à des attaques par des agents pathogènes, et consistant à amener les plantes à maintenir en au moins l'une de leurs parties un niveau de BiP (protéine de liaison), ou de l'un de ses homologues, dépassant le niveau endogène de ladite plante à l'état de non stress. L'invention porte également sur une plante modifiée produite au moyen dudit procédé.
