The invention relates to a process for melting of metal materials substances in a shaft furnace. During said process, coke is burned with pre-heated air and substantially clean oxygen, and the flue gases heat in counterflow the metal charge. The melt is overheated and carburized in the coke bed, a blast of a fixed portion of the oxygen being injected into the coke bed at very high speed and as far as possible to improve the passage of gas through the coke bed, and a blast of a second variable quantity of oxygen being injected into the bustle pipe.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fusion de matières métalliques dans un four à cuve. Selon ledit procédé, du coke est brûlé avec de l'air préchauffé et de l'oxygène sensiblement pur, et les gaz de fumée chauffent à contre courant la charge métallique. La matière en fusion est surchauffée et carburée dans le lit de coke, une quantité partielle fixe de l'oxygène étant injectée dans le lit de coke à une très haute vitesse et aussi loin que possible pour améliorer la traversée du lit de coke par le gaz, et une seconde quantité variable d'oxygène étant injectée dans la conduite circulaire.
