A method of multicasting digital data to a user accessing an Internet connection is disclosed. The method includes placing digital data that is to be multicast in IP protocol to generate IP digital data. The IP digital data is transmitted from a transmission site (100) to a remote Internet point of presence (55) through a dedicated transmission channel substantially separate from Internet backbone. The dedicated transmission channel may be, for example, a satellite channel. At the remote Internet point of presence, the IP digital data is multicast for delivery to at least one receiving Internet user's apparatus (A, B, C) connected to, but distal from, the remote Internet point of presence.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant une diffusion multidestinataire de données numériques à un utilisateur ayant accès à une connexion Internet. Le procédé consiste à organiser des données numériques detinées à une diffusion multidestinataire en protocole Internet (IO) pour créer des données numériques en format IP. On transmet les données numériques en format IP d'un site d'émission à un point de présence Internet à distance via an canal de transmission spécialisé, sensiblement distinct du réseau fédérateur Internet. Le canal de transmission spécialisé peut être, par exemple, un canal satellite. Au point de présence Internet à distance, on effectue une diffusion multidestinataire des données numériques en format IP afin de les envoyer vers au moins un appareil récepteur d'un utilisateur Internet, lequel appareil est connecté, de façon distale, au point de présence Internet à distance.
