This invention features a method for producing the glycoprotein G of the rabies virus, or a virus related to the rabies virus, characterised by: i) introducing, into a plant cell, a nucleic acid molecule comprising a chimeric coding sequence, comprising one coding sequence for the said mature viral protein G, or for an analogous protein, and a coding sequence for a N-terminal signal peptide other than the one naturally associated with the viral protein G, enabling the expression of the protein G in the cell; ii) multiplying, in the form of cell culture, transformed cells, or regeneration of whole transgenic or chimerical plants from these cells; iii) optionally extracting and purifying the glycoprotein G from the cells or plants thus obtained.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour la production de la glycoprotéine G du virus de la rage, ou d'un virus apparenté au virus de la rage, caractérisé par: i) l'introduction, dans une cellule végétale, d'une molécule d'acide nucléique comprenant une séquence codante chimérique, comportant d'une part une séquence codant pour ladite protéine G virale mature, ou pour une protéine analogue, et d'autre part, une séquence codant pour un peptide signal N- terminal autre que celui naturellement associé à la protéine G virale, l'introduction de la séquence codante chimérique permettant l'expression dans la cellule de la protéine G; ii) la multiplication, sous forme de culture cellulaire, des cellules transformées, ou la régénération de plantes entières transgéniques ou chimériques à partir de ces cellules; iii) éventuellement l'extraction et la purification de la glycoprotéine G à partir des cellules ou des tissus végétaux ainsi obtenus.
