This wind-resistant tarpaulin consists of a flexible piece including a superabsorbent material. The superabsorbent material is designed to absorb and retain a liquid (generally water), increasing the weight of the material, which thus acts as ballast. The increased weight resists removal by wind. This tarpaulin is normally used in agriculture for shading, forcing, and weed or erosion control purposes.
