The invention relates to compositions and methods for preventing, treating, or managing sleeplessness, restlessness, weight gain including weight gain due to stress or lack of sleep, or all three comprising the administration of a prophylactically and therapeutically effective amount of Magnoliaceae plant or extracts thereof to a mammal in need of such therapy. Preferably the mammal is human and the composition have comprise at least two compounds selected from magnolol, honokiol, and magnoflorine. Alternatively, the compositions may also comprise about 2% honokiol by weight of the composition.
L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés destinés à prévenir, traiter, ou gérer les troubles du sommeil, l'agitation, la prise de poids, notamment la prise de poids due au stress ou au manque de sommeil, ou tous les trois. Ces procédés consistent à administrer une quantité efficace sur le plan prophylactique et thérapeutique de Magnoliacée ou d'extraits de celle-ci à un mammifère nécessitant un tel traitement. De préférence, le mammifère est un humain et la composition comprend au moins deux composés sélectionnés parmi le magnolol, l'honokiol, et la magnoflorine. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, ces compositions comprennent également environ 2 % en poids de la composition d'honokiol.
