ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a standard electrostatic air-filtration system filtration is achieved by the passage of air propelled through the filter by means of the intervention of a device the purpose of which is to propel the air which at some point passes through the filter. The greater the ability of the filter material to create a static electric charge the more effective will be the air filtration. In this invention air filtration is more effectively achieved by constructing the filter using a filter media, such as electret, between layers of ionizing material such as polypropylene. By utilizing more than one layer of such an ionizing material not only is filter efficacy increased so is its structural strength. In this invention the passage of air through the filter may be achieved by the intervention of a propulsion device used in conjunction with an air-circulation system, examples being those found in a vehicle or in a house furnace, or it may be achieved by the natural process of airflow entering into the system particularly that found in a vehicle. By placing the filter around the impeller of the blower fan of the air-circulation system, particularly that of a vehicle, ease of installation without system modification is achieved. The introduction of this filter into any such system, in conjunction with the passage of air through the filter, will create an environment for the occupants of the area serviced by the system that is substantially free of airborne impurities, and by reason therefor, benefit those occupants.
