A building block building system is based upon novel building blocks having a rectangular face portion, with a projecting leg portion extending normal thereto, also of rectangular shape, and having a recess through its thick- ness. The block edges include tongue and groove keying elements, while the block L-section or T-section plan- form provides, on assembly, a wall of considerable section modulus, the leg portions being mutually verti- cally aligned to form adjacent parallel vertical bays, and the leg portion through-recesses constituting a series of horizontal channels lying parallel with the block face portions, within which channels structural and other building components may be located. The vertical bays may contain insulation, or may be enclosed with a simple form, and filled with concrete, as a solid pier. Simple seals, such as O-rings may be used to seal the face of the wall.
