A method and apparatus for mounting an air dryer (10) to a commercial vehicle is provided. The end caps (30, 40) of the membrane air dryer (10) are used to retain the membrane air dyer (20) core and attach the membrane air dryer (10) to the surface of the air supply reservoir (50). Bosses can be welded to the external surface of the air supply reservoir (50), which can then be used to mount the membrane air dryer (10) by bolting the end caps (30, 40) to the bosses. The method and apparatus can be applied to two or three tank air supply reservoir systems (50, 60, 170). A disengagement (150) tank may be included within the air dryer system (10), in place of a coalescing filter, to reduce the amount of moisture that reaches the membrane air dryer core (20).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour installer un dessiccateur d'air (10) dans un véhicule commercial. Les embouts (30, 40) de ce dessiccateur d'air (10) à membrane sont utilisés pour maintenir le noyau du dessiccateur et fixer ledit dessiccateur sur la surface du réservoir d'alimentation en air (50). Des bossages peuvent être soudés sur la surface externe du réservoir d'alimentation en air (50), ces bossages pouvant être utilisés pour fixer le dessiccateur d'air (10) à membrane par boulonnage des embouts (30, 40) sur lesdits bossages. Le procédé et l'appareil selon l'invention peuvent être mis en application pour des réservoirs d'alimentation en air à deux ou trois cuves (50, 60, 170). Le dessiccateur d'air (10) peut comprendre, à la place d'un filtre coalescent, une cuve de séparation (150) destinée à réduire la quantité d'humidité atteignant le noyau (20) du dessiccateur.
