The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for enhancing various economically important yield-related traits in plants. More specifically, the present invention concerns a method for enhancing yield-related traits in plants by modulating expression in a plant of a nucleic acid encoding a Yield Enhancing Protein (YEP). The YEP is selected from a Vacuolar Processing Enzyme (VPE) or a CCA1-like polypeptide ora SAP-like polypeptide or a Seed Yield Promoting Factor 1 (SYPF1) polypeptide ora Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCO) activase (RCA) polypeptide. The present invention also concerns plants having modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding such a YEP, which plants have enhanced yield-related traits relative to control plants. The invention also provides hitherto unknown YEP-encoding nucleic acids, and constructs comprising the same, useful in performing the methods of the invention.
La présente invention concerne de manière générale le domaine de la biologie moléculaire et concerne un procédé de renforcement de diverses caractéristiques associées au rendement, économiquement importantes dans des plantes. Plus spécifiquement, la présente invention concerne un procédé de renforcement de caractéristiques associées au rendement dans des plantes par modulation de l'expression dans une plante d'un acide nucléique codant pour une protéine de renforcement du rendement "Yield Enhancing Protein" (YEP). La protéine YEP est choisie parmi une enzyme Vacuolar Processing Enzyme (VPE) ou un polypeptide de type CCA1 ou un polypeptide de type SAP ou un polypeptide du SeedYield Promoting Factor 1 (SYPF1) ou un polypeptide de la Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygénase (RuBisCO) activase (RCA). La présente invention concerne également des plantes ayant une expression modulée d'un acide nucléique codant pour cette protéine YEP, lesdites plantes ayant des caractéristiques accrues associées au rendement, par rapport aux plantes témoins. L'invention propose également à cet égard des acides nucléiques codant pour des YEP inconnues et des constructions comprenant celles-ci, utiles dans la mise en AEuvre des procédés de l'invention.
