A communication system comprises a reference base station (110A) which collects on or more signal features of a mobile station signal. The reference base station (110A) determines a first location (120) parameter of the mobile station signal it receives. The reference base station (110A) forwards the signal features to an auxiliary base station (130). Using the signal features, the auxiliary base station (110B) creates a replica of the mobile station signal (132) as transmitted by the mobile station. The auxiliary base station (110B) uses the second set of signal features to determine a second location parameter. The position of the mobile station is determined using the first and second location parameters. The process maybe repeated at a plurality of auxiliary base station (110B-110G) and for a plurality of different location parameters in order to improve the accuracy of the determination of mobile station location.
Un système de communication comprend une station de base de référence (110A) qui collecte une ou plusieurs caractéristiques d'un signal de station mobile. Cette station de base de référence (110A) détermine un premier paramètre de localisation du signal de la station mobile qu'il reçoit. Cette station de base de référence (110A) envoie les caractéristiques du signal à une station de base auxiliaire (110B). A l'aide de ces caractéristiques, la station de base auxiliaire (110B) crée une réplique du signal de la station mobile tel que transmis par cette dernière. La station de base auxiliaire (110B) établit une corrélation entre la réplique et un signal de la même station mobile au niveau de la station de base auxiliaire (110B) pour déterminer un deuxième ensemble de caractéristiques du signal. La station de base auxiliaire (110B) utilise ce deuxième ensemble pour déterminer un deuxième paramètre de localisation. La position de la station mobile est déterminée à l'aide des premier et deuxième paramètres de localisation. Ce procédé peut être répété au niveau d'une pluralité de stations de base auxiliaires (110B-110G) et pour plusieurs paramètres de localisation différents afin d'améliorer la précision de l'emplacement de la station mobile.
