The instant disclosure is directed to a method of reducing the amount of crystallized salt in an aqueous stream comprises the steps of contacting the aqueous stream comprising one or more salts with an amount of a salt inhibitor sufficient to reduce the amount of crystallized salt in the aqueous stream under a set of conditions, and/or to reduce the amount of salt deposition from the aqueous stream that would otherwise occur from the aqueous stream under the essentially identical conditions, wherein the salt inhibitor comprises an at least partially water soluble compound comprising a Group 3 to Group 15 metal and/or an at least partially water soluble compound having any one of the formulae (I), (II), (III): wherein X is O or S; and R1, R2, R3, R4, and when present, R5 and/or R6 each independently comprise an organic or an inorganic functional group. A testing rig is also disclosed.

Le procédé de cette invention permet de réduire la quantité de sel cristallisé dans un effluent aqueux et comprend les étapes consistant à mettre en contact l'effluent aqueux contenant un ou plusieurs sels avec une quantité d'inhibiteur de sel suffisante pour réduire la quantité de sel cristallisé dans l'effluent aqueux dans certaines conditions, et/ou de réduire la quantité de sel qui se dépose à partir de l'effluent aqueux qui, sinon, se produirait à partir de l'effluent aqueux dans des conditions essentiellement identiques. L'inhibiteur de sel comprend un composé au moyen partiellement hydrosoluble comprenant un métal des Groupes 3 à 15 et/ou un composé au moins partiellement hydrosoluble répondant à l'une quelconque des formules (I), (II), (III) : où X est O ou S; et R1, R2, R3, R4, et si présents, R5 et/ou R6 représentent chacun indépendamment un groupe fonctionnel organique ou inorganique. Un puits d'essai est également décrit.
