This invention involves a method of simplifying the creation of a simulation model for a physical process in a material medium. A set of modelling equations is solved for each basic cell or box in a grid consisting of a large number (n) of cells into which the medium is subdivided. The model can be created at relatively low cost and in a reasonable computing time, considering the quality and precision of the simulations produced, essentially by reducing the size of the resolution problem. This is accomplished by using a Krylov space of dimension d (much smaller than the number n of boxes). This has the effect of reducing the volume of the resolution operation. The invention can be applied to the modelling of fluid flow in underground deposits, particularly in hydrocarbon deposits.

- Méthode permettant de simplifier la réalisation d'un modèle de simulation d'un processus physique dans un milieu matériel, qui comporte la résolution d'un système d'équations de modélisation au niveau de chacune des cellules élémentaires ou mailles d'un maillage comportant un grand nombre n de cellules subdivisant le milieu. - Suivant l'invention, on réalise ce modèle pour un coût relativement faible et dans un temps de calcul raisonnable, si on les rapporte à la qualité et la précision des simulations obtenues, essentiellement par une réduction de la taille du problème de résolution. On utilise à cette fin un espace de Krylov de dimension d très inférieure au nombre n de mailles, ce qui a pour effet de réduire le volume des opérations de résolution. - Application notamment à la modélisation d'écoulements de fluides à l'intérieur d'un gisement souterrain, et en particulier d'hydrocarbures.
