Sterile pharmaceutical stable autoclaved clear aqueous compositions of propofol (2,6-Diisopropyl phenol) suitable for parenteral administration are described. The compositions essentially consist of a complex of propofol with 2-hydroxypropyl-.beta.-cyclodextrin in a weight ratio of 1:30 - 1:60. This complex of propofol with 2-hydroxypropyl-.beta.-cyclodextrin produces a clear aqueous composition that is stable to autoclaving. The composition is effective as an anaesthetic agent. The process of making these synergistic compositions has been described.
L'invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques stériles, stables, aqueuses, claires, traitées à l'autoclave, de propofol (2,6-Diisopropyl phénol) adéquates pour une administration parentérale. Les compositions consistent essentiellement en un complexe de propofol comportant de la 2-hydroxypropyl-.beta.-cyclodextrine dans une proportion pondérale de 1:30 à 1:60. Ce complexe de propofol comportant de la 2-hydroxypropyl-.beta.-cyclodextrine produit une composition aqueuse, claire qui reste stable lors du traitement à l'autoclave. La composition est efficace en tant qu'agent anesthésiant. L'invention concerne également le procédé de production de ces compositions synergiques.
