The invention is useful in predicting a nucleoside-derived drug most suitable for use in chemotherapy by: (a) contacting a sample of the patient's tissue with a series of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies (e.g. anti hCNT1, anti hCNT2, anti hENT1 and anti hENT2), each of which recognizes a specific epitope of a human nucleoside transporter; (b) qualitatively and quantitatively determining the patient's nucleoside transporter expression pattern; (c) comparing the patient's pattern with reference patterns which are known to confer resistance or sensitivity to the drug and (d) predicting the most suitable drug. Preferably, biopsies of the patient and immunocytochemistry are used in the method. Determination of the patient's pattern is performed by simple visual inspection. The invention is useful in the treatment of cancer.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un assortiment servant à déterminer le médicament dérivé de nucléosides le plus indiqué pour une utilisation en chimiothérapie consistant a) à mettre l'échantillon tissulaire du patient en contact avec une série d'anticorps monoclonaux ou polygonaux (p.ex. anti hCNT1, anti hCNT2, anti hENT1 et anti hENT2), chacun reconnaissant un épitope propre à un transporteur humain de nucléosides ; b) à déterminer de manière quantitative et qualitative le modèle d'expression des transporteurs de nucléosides chez ce patient ; c) à comparer le modèle du patient avec d'autres modèles de référence connus en termes de résistance ou de sensibilité vis-à-vis du médicament ; et d) à déterminer le médicament le plus adéquat. Ce procédé fait appel, de préférence, à des biopsies du patient et à l'immunocytochimie. La détermination du patient s'effectue par simple examen oculaire. L'invention trouve une application dans le traitement du cancer.
