A catalyst system for the ring-opening metathesis polymerisation, which consists of at least two components (a) and (b), wherein (a) is a ruthenium compound of formula I or 11 RuX2(L1)m(L2)n(L3)o(L4)p (I), ARuX2(L1)r(L2)s (II), wherein L1, L2, L3 and L4 are each independently of the other C1- C18alkylcyanide, C~-C24-aralkylcyanide, tertiary amine, tertiary phosphine which does not contain any secondary alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals bound to the phosphorus atom, or phosphite, X is halogen, A is arene, m, n, o and p are integers from 0 to 4, where 2 ~ m + n + o + p ~ 4, r and s are integers from 0 to 2, where 1 ~ r + s ~ 2, and (b) is a tertiary phosphine containing at least one secondary alkyl radical or cycloalkyl radical bound to the phosphorus atom, is particularly suitable for the polymerisation of strained cycloolefins by the RIM process.

Divulgation d'un système catalyseur pour la polymérisation métathésique par ouverture de cycle, qui comprend au moins deux composants (a) et (b), dans lequel (a) est un composé du ruthénium de formule I, RuX2(L1)m(L2)n(L3)o(L4)p, ou II, ARuX2(L1)r(L2)s, dans lesquelles L1, L2, L3 et L4 sont chacun, indépendamment des autres, un cyanure d'alkyle en C1-C8, un cyanure d'aralkyle en C1-C24, une amine tertiaire, une phosphine tertiaire ne contenant aucun groupement alkyle secondaire ni aucun radical cycloalkyle lié à l'atome de phosphore, ou un phosphite, X est un atome d'halogène, A est un arène, m, n, o et p sont des nombres entiers compris entre 0 et 4 inclusivement, et pour lesquels 2 m + n + o + p 4, r et s sont des nombres entiers compris entre 0 et 2 inclusivement, pour lesquels 1 r + s 2, et (b) est une phosphine tertiaire contenant au moins un groupement alkyle secondaire ou un radical cycloalkyle lié à l'atome de phosphore. Ce système catalyseur est particulièrement utile pour la polymérisation de cyclooléfines tamisées par moulage par injection et réaction (RIM).
