The present invention discloses a method for treating a subject affected by an autoimmune disease, in particular multiple sclerosis, lupus erythematosus systemicus and reumatoid arthritis, comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of 3-(2-ethylphenyl)-5-methoxy-1H-1,2,4-tirazole. The present invention further discloses a method for inhibiting .gamma..delta. T cells in a subject in need thereof, said method comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of the same compound.
