A clamp is shown for holding a log of paper while a log-saw or cutting machine cuts shorter lengths of toilet-paper rolls or rolls of kitchen towels or similar all-purpose wipers from the log. The clamp is arranged adjacent a seat or support for the log as well as adjacent a cutting blade. The clamp includes, for each log seat, and on opposite sides of a cutting plane (T-T) through which the blade passes, a pair of adjustable and symmetrically arcuate strips (212, 214) secured to supports (207, 209). The strips are of flexible material with end portions which tend to spring outwardly. A strap (222) is anchored to a retention holder (224) and an adjustment holder (246). The strap surrounds the pair of strips (212, 214) and can change the arrangement thereof. A drive (240, 262) simultaneously adjusts both the effective length of the strap (222) and the symmetrical angular orientations of two rods (228A, 228B) and, consequently, of two cradles (218) on which the strips are supported.
Cette invention concerne une pince servant à retenir un «rondin» de pendant son débitage en rouleaux de papier hygiénique ou essui-tout ou à d'autres applications analogues. La pince est disposée près d'un berceau où repose le «rondin», à proximité de la lame de débitage. La pince comporte, pour chaque berceau de «rondin» et de part et d,autre du plan de coupe (T-T), une paire de languettes courbes symétriques (212, 214) fixées à des supports (207, 209). Les languettes sont en matériau souple et leur extrémité tend à se projeter vers l'extérieur. Une sangle (222) est ancrée à un élément de rétention (224) et à un élément de réglage (246). La sangle entoure la paire de languettes (212, 214) et peut mondifier leur disposition. Un entraînement (240, 264) règle simultanément la longueur efficace de la sangle (222) et l'orientation angulaire symétrique de deux tiges (228A, 228B) et, par conséquence, de deux étriers (218) supportant les languettes.
