This invention involves a process for preparing a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible copolyester consisting of terephthalate, isophthalate, sulfo-aryldicarboxylate, ethylene glycol and polyoxyethylene glycol units. The process characterized by the following stages: a transesterification reaction (exchange) between dimethyl terephthalate and a dimethyl sulfo-aryldicarboxylate on the one hand, and ethylene glycol on the other, a direct esterification between isophthalic acid and a new quantity of ethylene glycol, and a condensation polymerization reaction. It also involves the use of these polyesters and the sizing of textile yarns.
L'invention concerne donc un procédé de préparation d'un copolyester hydrosoluble et/ou hydrodispersable comportant des motifs téréphtalate, isophtalate, sulfoaryldicarboxylate, éthylèneglycol et polyoxyéthylèneglycol, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend les étapes successives suivantes: une réaction de transestérification (interéchange) entre d'une part le téréphtalate de diméthyle et un sulfo-aryldicarboxylate de diméthyle et d'autre part l'éthylèneglycol; une réaction d'estérification directe, entre de l'acide isophtalique et une nouvelle quantité d'éthylèneglycol; une réaction de polycondensation. Elle concerne aussi l'utilisation de ces polyesters pour l'encollage de fils textiles.
