A method and composition for controlling the proliferation of annual grass weeds in an area, wherein the composition comprises; (i) one or more species of Pyrenophora fungi (particularly, P. sememiperda and/or P. teres) and/or their anamorphs and/or (ii) a toxin(s) or toxin(s)-containing preparation derived from one or more species of Pyrenophora fungi (particularly, P. semeniperda and/or P. teres) and/or their anamorphs, and an agriculturally acceptable carrier. Toxins(s)-containing preparations derived from Pyrenophora are also claimed.
