A deodorant composition is disclosed which comprises a body odor suppressing effective amount of an optically active bactericide comprising D-amino acid, e.g., at least one selected from the group consisting of .beta.-chloro-D- alanine and D-cycloserine, in a dermatologically acceptable carrier. A method is also provided for inhibiting body odor by applying to the skin a body odor suppressing effective amount of the bactericide.

La présente invention concerne une composition de déodorant comprenant une quantité efficace pour supprimer l'odeur corporelle d'un bactéricide optiquement actif comprenant un D-aminoacide, par exemple au moins un D-aminoacide choisi dans le groupe composé de la .beta.-chloro-D-alanine et la D-cyclosérine, dans un véhicule dermatologiquement acceptable. L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant d'inhiber l'odeur corporelle par application sur la peau d'une quantité du bactéricide efficace pour supprimer l'odeur.
