A hydrogen-occluding layered material which can be reduced in weight while securing the excellent ability to occlude hydrogen and can be industrially mass-produced. The material (10) has a layered structure comprising first layers (6a) and second layers (7a). The first layers comprise a Group 2A or 3A element or an alloy or compound containing at least either of a Group 2A element and a Group 3A element and at least partly contain a bcc structure. The second layers comprise one of Group 6A, 7A, and 8A elements or an alloy or compound containing at least one of Group 6A, 7A, and 8A elements.
