Method for the preparation of beta -phenylisoserine derivatives of general formula (I) involving the action of an anhydride and hydrogen with a product of general formula (II). The products of general formula (I) are especially useful in the preparation of taxoids having outstanding antitumour properties. In general formulae (I) and (II), Ar is an aryl radical, Ph is a phenyl radical or an optionally substituted alpha or beta -naphtyl, R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical optionally substituted by a phenyl radical and R1 is an optionally substituted phenyl radical or a R2-O radical wherein R2 is an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or heterocyclyl.

Procédé de préparation de dérivés de la .beta.-phénylisosésine de formule générale (I) par action d'un anhydride et d'hydrogène sur un produit de formule générale (II). Les produits de formule générale (I) sont particulièrement utiles pour préparer des taxoides qui présentent des propriété antitumorales remarquables. Dans les formules générales (I) et (II), Ar représente un radical aryle, Ph représente un radical phényle ou .alpha.- ou .beta.-naphtyle éventuellement subtitué, R représente un atome d'hydrogène ou un radical alcoyle éventuellement substitué par un radical phényle et R1 représente un radical phényle éventuellement subtitué ou un radical R2-O dans lequel R2 représente alcoyle, alcényle, cycloalcoyle, phényle ou hétérocyclyle.
