Compositions and methods for reducing or preventing ischemic damage of the heart are disclosed. A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises the simultaneous administration of specific A3/A1 receptor agonists, to patients suffering from ischemic damage or at risk for the same. In yet another embodiment of the invention, a binary conjugate which acts as an agonist for the A3 receptor and an antagonist at the A2a receptor, is administered to reduce or prevent ischemic damage to the heart.
L'invention a trait à des compositions, ainsi qu'aux méthodes afférentes, permettant de réduire une lésion ischémique cardiaque ou d'empêcher sa survenue. Dans le cadre d'une réalisation préférée de l'invention on administre simultanément des agonistes spécifiques du récepteur d'A3/A1 à des patients souffrant de lésion ischémique ou sujets à ce type de lésion. Dans le cadre d'une autre réalisation, il est fait appel à un conjugat binaire agissant comme agoniste du récepteur d'A3 et comme antagoniste du récepteur d'A2a, conjugat que l'on administre au patient pour réduire une lésion ischémique cardiaque ou empêcher sa survenue.
